art6 is a member-run, nonprofit art gallery that for years has brought to downtown Richmond:
- The Biennial Juried High School Art Exhibition, a showcase of the work of high school art students in Richmond and surrounding counties
- The Biennial art6 Members Exhibition, a showcase of the work of a diverse and productive arts and performance membership
- The Pinkney Near Memorial Lectures in Art History
- ThinkSmall4, a collaborative biennial exhibition showing simultaneously at art6 and Artspace, with a chartered bus connecting the two venues
- shop6, our gallery shop which provides artists with a retail outlet for high-quality art works and crafts
- A year round monthly schedule of exhibitions, music and dance performances, poetry readings, an informative Web site, and the magazine BroadStrokes
art6 is asking for your support.
Physical upgrades to our gallery will enable us to ensure a quality environment for art and a comfortable space for the people who flock to our gallery to experience art.
art6 wants to take off in new directions...expansion of our efforts in areas such as education and outreach through classes, workshops, concerts and lectures held in conjunction with our exhibitions and performances will provide art experiences designed to engage and inform our community.
Here are a few of the efforts underway that have been achieved with your support:
- Sponsorship of an area debut concert by Garth Newel Piano Quartet, noted classical music quartet, in conjunction with CommandPrint
- Exhibition of prints by noted printmakers, printmaking workshops for children, and the exhibition of selected works from the print collection of Mitzi Humphrey and Henrietta Near—all to coincide with the Southern Graphics Conference in Richmond
- After school and Saturday morning arts classes conducted at art6 by members
- A collaboration with literary arts organizations James River Writers and The Poetry Society of Virginia to hold a creative writing contest for grades 9-12, with prizes and publication awards
- Sponsorship of repeat performances by grammy award-winning eighth blackbird, noted contemporary music ensemble
By making a tax deductible contribution to art6, you will help ensure that these efforts—especially efforts such as the sponsorship of the Garth Newel Piano Quartet Richmond area debut—will be realized. We thank you and are confident you will find your support of our efforts to be an uplifting experience!
